The Buffalo that Americans refer to is actually a Bison. It is also called the American Buffalo. It is the heaviest land animal in North America. It lives in parks and reserves, inhabiting flat grasslands. Bison can run at speeds up to 48 kph. Although the bison almost went extinct in the late 1800’s due to over-hunting, it is now recovering.

The Bison is up to 6 ft tall at the shoulder. It can weigh up to a ton. Bulls are larger than cows. Both bulls and cows have horns. Buffaloes have a life span of 12-15 years.

These herbivores (plant-eaters) graze on grass, twigs and shrubs. They swallow their food without chewing it and later regurgitate a cud and chew it.

Students should be aloud to blog because they can talk to people the other side of the world. You can make some really good friends. Write about your life and tell people about you.

On The Farm

The Cows where feeding there Calf and the Sheep where baaaaaing. My Dad was feeding the Bulls.
I was flying around on the motorbike scaring the stock. Ben was just inside on the computer talking to his mates on msn, and Mum was just cooking cakes like she always does.

Then Dad finally got home from feeding the stock and asked, “Henry, will you come and help me stack some hay out in the paddock?”  I said “Rightio I’ll come help” and off we went. Meanwhile, mum came out to feed the sheep some pellets with the Ute.  She saw there was a new born lamb so she went home and got some milk for it and drove back and gave it a good feed.

Then Dad and I were heading home for tea after a good days work.

(WEEK LATER)
The crops were ready and Dad was preparing for harvest. He was putting the bin on the back of the truck and hooking the tractor up to the chaser bin and getting the header out of the shed. While Dad was organising him self Mum and I went to see if the crop was ready or not and it was ready. So we moved down to the paddock and
hooked the front on to the header and started heading.
It was all going good so far till the chain snapped on the real. So Dad drove the Ute home to ring the mechanic from Warrnambool AG to bring a joint for a chain.

(40 Minutes later)
The mechanic finally gets here with the joint and starts fixing it. Mean while Dad went and emptied the chaser bin in to the shed and went back to the paddock.
The mechanic had finished fixing the real so we started heading again.
I went home to get the tractor and baler and I started to bale the straw.

(30 minutes later) Dad finally finished so he unhooked the header front off and took the header home so I finished to and got moving home.
THE END
